When building in Steamboat Springs Colorado, it’s important to consider the extreme temperatures in both the Summer and Winter months. In the Winter Steamboat Springs will experience frigid -30 degree temperatures, and in the Summer temperatures can get well into the 90's. With that in mind, the Architects on this project wanted to be sure to select a building system with a high insulation value. This was particularly important since their goal was to design a LEED certified building.
Upon completion the $3.1 million, the 8400 sq. ft community center became the first LEED certified building in Northwest Colorado and the first LEED building funded by the Colorado Department of Local Affairs Energy and Mineral Impact Assistance Fund - a grant program that generously contributed $1 million dollars towards the project.
