87,000sf middle school. 33% energy savings and improved comfort, despite extensively-glazed design and frigid winter temperatures. ARXX allowed winter construction without additional heaters, as concrete cured while protected by the insulated forms. Interior demising walls and music room met STC50+. Walls up to 44' tall.

This $30-million hospital was built to capture Nova Scotia's commitment to patient care and service.  The 78-bed facility was the first large-scale hospital in Atlantic Canada to use ARXX ICFs.  ARXX ICFs were used for the structural exterior walls on a cast-in-place concrete floor topped with a concrete roof.   Some of the reasons ARXX ICF was selected for this project include speed of construction, thermal performance and sound attenuation.
 

The design of this building utilized a few different exterior finishes and therefore the Architecture firm based in Bend Oregon really enjoyed designing with ARXX ICFs.  The designers took advantage of the strength provided by ARXX Prime ICFs by incorporating large open areas that utilize daylight techniques, thereby enhancing the working environment.
 

Recently updated codes in Massachusetts require that homes built within 1 mile of the water must be able to withstand 110 mph winds. ARXX ICFs ensured that there were no concerns in meeting the new codes.  This was a first-time ICF project for everyone involved; the ICF installer, the architect and the owner.

The owner of this lovely home in Eugene, Oregon was determined to build the most energy efficient and sustainable home he could design.  His passion for green building was evident by the large amount of recycled wood used in the floors and beams of the home.  He also used in-floor radiant heating throughout the home.  That's why ARXX ICFs was the natural choice for building the walls of his dream home.
 

The owners of Harbourview were looking for a product to meet code, be easy to use and improve construction time.  Not only did they get what they were looking for, but they were also able to build through the winter months. ARXX Edge ICFs not only met the requirements, but allowed the builders to easily apply the exterior  finishes of stucco and cultured stone directly onto the ICF panels, creating the desired design.

The Villas at Mt. Blanc were built on an old oil tank storage facility.  ARXX ICFs created a cost-effective way to build this high-end residential community.  Only 50ft away from one of the busiest arteries in the city, the sound suppression benefits of ARXX ICFs were also one of the deciding factors.  


 

The Cloisters is a four-story exclusive community of 14 Regency-style live/work townhouses.  The units are 3000 sq. ft and have 10 foot high ceilings. Superior sound suppression was an important consideration in selecting ARXX ICFs for this project. Because the building was designed for both commercial and residential use, it was necessary to meet the stringent STC ratings in the building code.

When the owner of Mid State Electric decided to use ARXX ICFs, he was thinking long term.  He wanted something that would be energy efficient and last for the next 50 years.  ARXX ICFs was the perfect choice.  After the project was completed, the State of Oregon had it's first LEED Silver building utilizing ICFs.
 

Located just outside downtown Halifax, this 85 unit 109,000 square foot facility provides its residents with modern, energy efficient and quiet homes.  This is in addition to the savings they’re realizing on their monthly heating and cooling costs.  There are several residents with in-line units that have not turned on their heating units since first moving into the building.

Given Georgia Power's initiatives to reduce its impact on the environment, major requirements for the project were sustainability and achievement of at least LEED Silver Certification. The engineers at Georgia Power and Heery International thoroughly investigated and selected ARXX Steel ICFs to build the exterior walls of this project. 
 
 

The Pioneer Charter School is a 27,000 sf two-story building that includes advanced technology and materials in green building construction. The project, originally intended as a LEED Silver building  (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) has the ability to meet the stringent standards of the U.S. Green Build Council.

 The VISION House Series is comprised of demonstration homes built around the USA that showcase the latest in green design, building techniques and products. Each house utilizes site-specific solutions for key green building issues including energy use, water conservation, land use and orientation, waste management, indoor environment quality, and products and materials. The project will incorporate the essentials of sustainable design and construction and will incorporate education and training for building professionals and consumers about green building products and techniques, as well as broader aspects of sustainable living.

The Hood River Middle School welcomed its newest addition, the innovative 5,131sq ft Music and Science building,  the first Energy Trust Path to Net-Zero project in Oregon,  - built using ARXX ICFs. The center boasts a LEED platinum certification, 101% CO2 Emissions Reduction and is the winner of the 2030 “Living Building Challenge” Design Award for AIA Portland 2010, raising the bar for sustainable design.

Built to withstand winds of more than 140 miles per hour, the hurricane house at the University of Florida’s Fort Lauderdale Research and Education Center is one of four demonstration facilities located around the state of Florida.  The hurricane house demonstrates that it is possible to build a home that will come through a category 4 or 5 hurricane withstanding winds of more than 150 mph with little or no damage.

A 76,000 square foot facility with requirements that include architectural compatibility with other buildings in the existing complex. This facility was designed to accommodate multiple uses including a forensics training facility. ARXX ICFs were chosen for its ability to reduce air infiltration resulting in improved IAQ ideal in a Biotech facility. This project achieved LEED certification.

When building a medical facility, controlled temperature and indoor air quality are a high priority.  ARXX Edge ICFs allowed the owner to achieve both while keeping costs down.  The Bannock Animal Hospital's design involved a hexagonal shaped front room and T-walls to form an 8'x8' kennel room.  ARXX Edge 45° forms were used to quickly construct the hexagon front room and 90° connectors made the T-walls easy to construct.

Featured in the Atlanta Magazine, this home was custom built for demonstration as a manufacturer's show home.  Open for 5 weeks, the home hosted nearly 12,000 visitors that came to see the latest in building technology. Unlike anything ever done in a showcase home, the Amazing Innovations Dream Homes sets a new standard for comfortable living with a major emphasis on energy efficiency.

When you are building a 6-plex movie theatre with 35 ft high walls, sound transmission is a priority.  That's why the owner of this movie theatre in Washington selected ARXX ICFs.  By using ARXX ICFs for both the outer walls and demising walls, this theatre was able to achieve an STC rating of almost 70.
 

This project was built during the cold winter months of Minnesota and speed of construction was a major consideration when selecting ARXX Prime for the job.  The Barnes and Noble store was slated to open in June and ARXX ICFs provided the perfect solution.  The double (sandwich) insulation of ARXX ICFs extended the building season by providing the necessary insulation for concrete to cure during extreme cold.
 

A project with a great cause is always something wonderful to see and be a part of. Chestnut Lane Assisted Care is a facility designed exclusively for the Deaf and Blind.  In fact, it’s the first of its kind in the United States and was a finalist for an Excellence in Concrete award for the State of Oregon.   The owner of the facility was aware of the high operating/living costs that assisted care facility residents have to face due to the level of care they require.  That's why it was a priority to build with the most energy efficient building material available.

Built on the coast of Newport Oregon, these homes have an interesting story.  Originally the owner of these 4 and 6-plex homes decided to build using traditional stick frame construction.  By the time the third model was complete, repairs were already being made to the first.  Being on the coast, the homes built with traditional stick frames were unable to withstand the high winds and required repairs before they were even lived in.
 

With 350 openings, minimizing waste was a major consideration on this project.  ARXX ICF ensured that the amount of waste was minimized and allowed the project to go up during the harsh Minnesota Winter months.
 

This 57,000 sq. ft project in Independence Oregon was developed by Steven Ribeiro with one goal in mind: to become the highest scoring LEED building in the world.  The award-winning, flagship project of  Independence Station is an extraordinary, ultra-high performance, mixed-use building that is powered primarily by the sun and waste vegetable oil.

This project required an energy efficient building system that could construct 50 foot non-bearing walls and work with a modern architectural design.  Along with the exterior walls of the Church, ARXX Edge was also used for the stair wells and elevator shafts.  The interior framing and superstructure has been designed to resist the wind and seismic loads applied to the large exterior walls.
 

Situated halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco on historic Highway 101, River Oaks Center is an office/retail space that combines stunning architecture with a strong focus on green building.  Already pre-certified LEED-Gold (Core and Shell), River Oaks saves 35% on natural gas and 30% on electricity compared to traditional construction, and reduces water usage by 50%.

The Chattooga River Ranger Office project came with a very tight construction schedule and speed of construction was a major factor when selecting ARXX ICFs for the wall systems.   A relatively simple design along with the ease of installation of ARXX ICFs allowed walls to go up in 3 days including the concrete placement.
 

The owner of this Chevrolet dealership in Mercer Pennsylvania spent a great deal of time researching energy efficient building systems before deciding to build with ARXX Prime ICFs.  The showroom needed to be aesthetically pleasing, as well as comfortable for both is staff and customers.
 

When building 75 ft from a busy railway and a major highway, superior sound suppression becomes a priority.  That's why the owners of this Prudential office chose ARXX ICFs.
 

The owner/developer chose the beautiful town of Highlands North Carolina which is the highest incorporated town east of the Mississippi River at 4,118 feet for this beautiful 'for rent' retreat. The 6 bedroom mountain villa was built to sleep 20 - perfect for any family gathering. ARXX ICFs were chosen for their strength and ability to build on the beautiful Appalachian mountainside.

This community college in the southeastern suburbs of Phoenix represents a breakthrough for the use of ICFs in the construction of an educational institution in the western United States. The building achieves several engineering feats previously thought unworkable, such as cantilevering the second story ICF walls almost ten feet beyond the ground floor. LEED Silver certification is pending.

According to the project architect, ICFs were specified on this project quite simply for stewardship reasons including reducing materials, labor and energy usage. Using ARXX ICFs for the building envelope helped reduce the size of HVAC equipment required.  This move was also encouraged by a recent law in North Carolina which requires all state-funded building designs over 20,000 sq ft. to undergo Life Cycle Cost Analysis. The purpose of the law is to ensure that such buildings exceed ASHRAE 90.1 2004 energy efficiency standards by 20% for buildings constructed through calendar year 2010, and 30% through calendar year 2015.  When completed, this project will also be LEED Silver certified.

With torrential rain and wind-blown debris during the hurricane season, developers in the Chesapeake Bay region of the USA, face the challenge of building structures that can withstand severe weather.  Using ARXX Steel, the developers of Lynnhaven Dunes project in Virginia Beach, created a community that is both sustainable and energy efficient, exemplifying the environmentally responsible philosophy of sustainable development.

The $8.6 million Northside Aztlan Community Center was the first LEED Gold community center in the United States.  Building with ARXX ICFs provided 5 of the available 10 points for energy performance.  The average wall system typically receives 2 - 3 points in this area which further demonstrates the energy efficiency provided by ARXX ICFs.  The total energy savings of this project are documented at 31%.
 

Located in the Fashion District on one of the most sought-after streets, this 9-story high rise with 35 condominium units was constructed on a zero lot line. ARXX Edge was chosen to construct the outside East and West walls.  Limited space to stage materials was a concern on this project. 

 

This ACE Hardware store project on the coast of Oregon came with a very straight forward design.  However, that doesn't mean the crew wasn't faced with it's share of challenges.  The building went up during a winter storm.  During construction winds of over 65 mph made constructing the store less than enjoyable for the crew.  The result however, was no lost time.
 

This impressive development of 24 new apartments, which includes a stunning penthouse, sits adjacent to the Sovereign Harbour Yacht Club overlooking Eastbourne Marina in East Sussex.  Now a familiar landmark as you enter Sovereign Harbour North, the Yacht Club was the first of a two phase design plan which provides valuable commercial, community and residential facilities to the surrounding area.
 

Quiet, comfort and peace of mind were the determining factors when the Nilsen family selected ARXX ICFs to build their dream home with.  "We live in an area where high winds and storms move through frequently. I've slept through thunderstorms, only waking the following morning to hear the local news commenting on the severity of the storm we had the previous night. Glacier Place is a 9000 sq. ft design center based in Redmond, Oregon.   It was important that the design of this building demonstrate strong unique characteristics of architecture, as well as have high energy efficient properties.  That's exactly why ARXX Prime ICF was chosen for this project.
 

Another great example of ARXX ICFs being used in a retail environment, this DirectBuy store was a prototype of the new energy efficient design that DirectBuy management want to implement into all future expansion projects.   In selecting ARXX Steel for this project, management at DirectBuy was looking for a building material that was energy efficient, resistant to high winds, fire, mold and insects, as well as easy to maintain.
 

The Holtkamps have joined thousands of other Georgia homeowners in building an elegant new house constructed with 21st century energy-saving technology. Federal tax credits helped offset the additional costs.
       
The 7,500 square foot Greek revival house, built in 2006, appears to have stood on its 5.2 acres since Civil War days. It could almost pass for one of the historical homes on Madison's antebellum trail.  "I wanted an old house, but they are inefficient," Suzanne Holtkamp said. "We wanted to build a home that will last through the ages to counteract the current disposable building culture."

Heritage Estates is a retirement community that was built to  suit the needs of its retirement clientele.  The owners of the property required that code compliance was not an issue, as well ensuring that fire resistance was part of the building envelope.

Located in Tallahassee Florida, this project required a building system that provides resistance to high wind and extreme storm conditions.  ARXX Steel was a natural choice for this project.  The 24" high Steel forms with furring strips 6 inches on center allowed the walls to rise quickly and provide resistance to winds in excess of 150 mph. 

 

This absolutely stunning residential design came with several construction challenges.  The lot sloped a total of 105 ft from front to back. Along with building on a steep hillside the design also included various angled walls, radius walls, archways and custom stone exterior finish.
 

Theatre Lofts, a contemporary Downtown Halifax development featuring 43 residential units and two commercial units, is built around a private and open urban courtyard and utilizes the energy efficient qualities of ARXX ICFs.

This small office building in Redmond Oregon was a pretty straight forward design.  The building owner is a residential builder that specializes in traditional wood framed houses but chose ARXX for its Energy efficiency and quietness.
 

The Mill Quarter project is a beautiful residential condominium project in the heart of Bend, Oregon.  This 160 000 sq. ft project utilizes ARXX ICFs for the outer walls and demizing walls.  This ensures that STC requirements are met and the residents enjoy a quiet and peaceful home.  The design of the building includes large arch windows and a traditional red brick and stone finish.
 

The Boulder County Parks Department is located next to a municipal airport making sound suppression the main consideration when ARXX ICFs were selected for this project.  Building with ARXX ICFs allowed the owners to exceed the STC code requirements for this project and they were thrilled when they were able to use their own crew which previously had no experience building with ARXX ICFs.
 

The Sienna Villas at Longview in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, were designed to have the feel and luxury of Tuscany, with the hidden safety and energy-efficient advantages provided by the ARXX ICF wall system. The complex consists of 124 total units and the builder is offering homeowners savings on utility costs and temperature-stable comfort all year ’round.   Even more comforting than their heating and cooling bills is the fact that the ARXX ICFs give their homes the strength to withstand severe natural disasters.

The Shaftsbury project is located in the busy metropolis of Toronto and is less than 200 ft from a major railway line.   Superior sound suppression was a major consideration when selecting ARXX ICFs for this project. There is a city bylaw that requires a minimum STC of 70. Building with ARXX ICF allowed the owners to actually exceed the minimum code requirement, ultimately achieving an STC rating of 71.
 

When the building officials decided on ARXX ICF for this project, they were looking for a product that would allow for a winter build without any down time.  When they found out that ARXX ICF would not only allow them to build through the cold winter months ahead, but provide them with high energy efficiency, the decision was an easy one.
 

The Alta Vista development is a retirement residence consisting of 218 resident rooms on 5 floors, plus an underground garage.  Each of the 14,500 sq. ft floors took only 4 weeks to complete, including the 5 days needed to place the pre-cast flooring.  The ARXX Edge walls provides exceptional noise reduction, which is important to the building owners and residents, as well as increases protection against fire and high winds.
 

Located in Paso Robles, this California winery selected ARXX ICFs for their energy efficient properties and design flexibility.  The stucco finish radius walls and arches allowed the designers to achieve the Mediterranean design they were hoping for.  This compound consists of a visitor center, tasting room and conference center.

When building in Steamboat Springs Colorado, it’s important to consider the extreme temperatures in both the Summer and Winter months.  In the winter, Steamboat Springs will experience frigid -30 degree temperatures, and in the Summer temperatures can get well into the 90's.  With that in mind, the Architects on this project wanted to be sure to select a building system with a high insulation value.  This was particularly important since their goal was to design a LEED certified building.
 

Building within tight spaces can often prove to be a challenge with traditional building materials.  ARXX ICFs actually make building on small job sites easy.
 

McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in Oklahoma has six ammunition production, maintenance and renovation complexes and is a major ammunition storage site for all branches of the Armed Forces. With nearly 2,300 storage magazines and six million square feet of covered explosive storage space, it is the DoD’s (Department of Defense) largest explosive storage facility.

The energy efficient properties that come with building with ARXX ICFs, are ideal in a retail environment.  Fred's Department stores in Louisiana were looking for a way to minimize operating and construction costs.  Their new store in Banton provided a perfect opportunity to build an energy efficient location while at the same time reducing construction costs.
 

The IMAX theatre in Fitchburg has 32 - 50 ft high walls and is a perfect example of the superior sound suppression qualities of ARXX ICFs.  All of the theatres exterior, interior load bearing and demising walls were built using ARXX Edge ICFs in this 33278 sq ft facility.

Huntsville, Ontario is no stranger to extremely cold winter conditions.  That's why big savings on heating and cooling where top of mind when the owner of this Harley Davidson and Honda dealership was looking for a product to build with.  ARXX ICFs were used to build the 5000 sq. ft warehouse and repair shop, as well as the 2000 sq. ft showroom and sales office.
 

ARXX provided two unique features that will help an innovative biogas project turn industrial food processing and household green bin waste into clean energy. First, the thermal performance of the ARXX ICFs will allow the digester tanks of this project to be maintained within exceedingly tight tolerances notwithstanding the large swings in external temperature, particularly in winter months.

Energy efficiency and the ability to meet the engineering requirements for building on an earthquake fault in the State of California, were the main reasons ARXX Prime was chosen for this project.  This was the first DSA ICF project in the State of California.

This small commercial project was awarded an Excellence in Concrete award and received a Better Energy Tax Credit (BETC) from the state of Oregon.  Built in a rural part of Bend Oregon, this building design required that it blend in with the more traditional rural designs of its surrounding buildings.
 

The design of the Wesleyan Church project included many narrow spaces and high walls.  ARXX insulating concrete forms allowed the crew to work easily within tight spaces and stay on schedule.  In fact when the owner was doing his initial research he found that ARXX ICFs were more cost efficient than tilt-up, wood frame, steel frame grid and concrete block (CMU) construction for this project.

Consul Apartments was built on a site where a CMU and wood framed apartment building once stood.  The original building was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004 and the new building had to utilize the previous footprint, with zero room for deviation. 
 

When Dr. Kamelson decided to build his dream home in Savannah Georgia, living in a safe and secure structure was his first priority.  The superior strength that ARXX ICFs provide made the decision an easy one.  Having lived on the coast most of his life, Dr. Kamelson was all too familiar with the devastation the high winds of a hurricane can bring.

The owners and residents of this beautiful home in Southwest Missouri are environmental enthusiasts that dreamt of having an off-grid home.  Plenty of research went into finding a building system that provided high energy efficiency and high indoor air quality.  Their research eventually led them to ARXX ICFs and they couldn't be happier.
 

From 50 feet in the air where Pastor Rod Chaney is placing the ARXX ICF forms for the new Sunrise Church in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, the outlook keeps getting better. “With this building we focused our finances on top  quality material – not labor,” Pastor Chaney says. With a budget of $650,000 for a new church, the short-term goal was best value possible. The longer-term goal was a lasting structure to accommodate future growth.

Located in the extreme climate of beautiful Reno, Nevada, the Montreaux Golf and Country Club needed a building envelope system that was energy-efficient.  They chose ARXX ICFs. ARXX ICFs are not only energy-efficient, but they allowed for the required stone and stucco exterior finishes that complement the idyllic wooded setting and enhance their prestige image.

When asked why ARXX ICFs were chosen to build the $25 million dollar expansion of the Deerhurst Resort, the owner said "I wanted to maximize guest comfort". In fact, the Deerhurst Resort has been selected as the location for the 2010 G8 summit. The complex consists of three four-story buildings totalling 53,000 square feet and 41 total units. The project was in conjunction with the U.S. Green Building Council for LEED for Homes certification and achieved LEED Gold certification. It was also built to ENERGY STAR standards.
